Search Engine Optimization is what results in a site appearing
among the first ones delivered by search engines. This result, the
ranking obtained, is the answer to a simple question: how much does the content
of a site match the particular subject requested by a specific keyword from a
surfer? However, the details of practice complicate matters a bit.
In real life, search engine optimization translates into:
1- How much "relevant content" does the site provide?
2- How well does a webmaster transmit this content to a search engine for
indexing and for search engine optimization?
3- How a webmaster maximizes a site's ranking by adjusting the
different elements of a page as well as the elements of design?
Search Engine Optimization must consider the following:
Heading: how much a web site developer understands that the
heading of a main page conveys important information for search engine
optimization. Therefore, it should not be cluttered by unnecessary
elements and by coding that refrains a search engine from properly indexing the
page.
Title Meta Tag and Name of Page:
how appropriate these
elements are for conveying the subject of the page or site to the potential
visitor and for transmitting important KEYWORDS to the search engines.
Description Meta Tag: how effectively this element presents
the site to surfers, considering the needs and attention span of potential
visitors; and, how creatively the description incorporates an array of important
keywords for the purpose of search engine optimization.
Keywords Meta Tag:
how well the keywords reflect the way people communicate
and conduct searches through search engines and how these
keywords are presented in the search engine optimization process.
Body Text: how meaningful words and phrases are repeated
throughout the page with proper emphasis and placement that benefits search
engine optimization.
